First letter from Templeton school

I find it concerning that her first order of business as well was a new building.. hmm

Her first act was to move central office to a nicer part of the Narragansett Middle school and remodel...' Cause it's all about the kids!

When an override for the schools failed, she  closed and turned over an elementary school back to the town of Templeton ... On 2 days notice!

Then she made the case that the two remaining elementary schools ( Templeton Center School and Baldwinville Elementary school )were overcrowded- go figure!

The next year, she  asked for another override for the schools operating budget. Town meeting voted to put it on the ballot. the town's people voted NO! The town's people voted NO three times, but old Ruthless enacted a little known section of the code of mass regulation 603 CMR 41.05. Which we called for a joint town meeting with Phillipston ( we are a two town district)

So after three NO votes by the Templeton voters, the joint town meeting voted in favor of cutting the town of Templeton's town operating budget by over $500,000. This crippled the town's operating budget.

A subsequent town override passed, but then it was discovered that our town budget was not correct. Our revenue figures were off and deep cuts  were made to the town budget in May which resulted in many layoffs of dedicated town employees .

If the school superintendent  had not used what we now call "the nuclear option" or "financial gang rape"  against Templeton, then the budget shortfall would have come to light much sooner and possibly have stopped the layoffs of town employees.

The Ruthless Wonder's last act was to push for and achieve the installation of a wood chip boiler at the the high school middle school. The boilers at the high school middle school were 17 years old and were functioning properly. There was a grant involved and the payback costs for the new boiler were based on the price of oil at 3.67/gallon. The projected savings were not to be returned to the two town's but used "for the children"...( lost money)

The voters in Templeton and Phillipston approved this project at town meeting. The boilers have been installed and the price of oil has dropped . Don't think there have been any savings, as the back up for the wood chip boilers is propane!
